Photos: Explosion at beer parlour leaves 4 people injured in Lagos
4 people were seriously injured today after an explosion at a beer parlor in Oworonsoki, Lagos this afternoon. According to NEMA, who investigated the explosion, they said it was caused by a 'leaking refrigerator' in the beer shop which was attached to a residential building in the area.
The injured people which included a 6 month old baby have all been hospitalized and are receiving medical attention.
General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Micheal Akindele while commenting on the incident, said gas escaped from the compressor of the refrigerator suspected to be defective and reacted with carbonated drinks in the shop, causing the explosion. They ruled out any possibility of the explosion caused by an IED.
